Teen plunges from the Three Mile Lane Bridge
A 17-year-old McMinnville boy either fell or jumped from the Three Mile Lane Bridge this afternoon, according to McMinnville police.
Sgt. Tim Symons gave this account:
Officer Ryan Fricke was dispatched to the bridge about 3 p.m. on a report that a male was sitting on the side of the bridge with his feet hanging into the southbound lane of travel.
The officer contacted the individual. As he was returning to his patrol car, the subject identified as Zachary Hollenback turned toward the bridge guardrail. It's unclear whether he jumped over fell from the bridge to the ground below, a distance of between 40 and 50 feet.
McMinnville Fire Department medical personnel responded to the scene and treated Hollenback who was transported by Life Flight Helicopter to Legacy Emanuel Hospital in Portland with non-life threatening injuries.
