Suspects sought in rock quarry heist
It is located south of Dayton off Mallard Lane.
The suspects are described as three males, one featuring a distinctive ponytail extending down to the middle of his back.
They collected about 1,000 feet of wire, loaded it into a vehicle and drove off, according to Capt. Tim Svenson.
“They just rolled it up and carried it off,” he said. “They knew what they were doing. They knew what to wear, they were using flashlights and they were in and out quickly.”
However, they were caught in the act in a series of five time-stamped surveillance photos released by the sheriff’s office.
Svenson said the photos have been provided to various businesses in the Willamette Valley, including Cherry City Metals in Salem, a leading scrap metal buyer.
Anyone with information about the case is asked to call deputy Justin Brester of the office’s Community Response Team at 503-434-7506.
