Before you do an early spay Google the best time to spay. Many vets would argue that six weeks of age is way too early.

Candie Corriher, DVM

Early pediatric spay/neuter is indeed a controversial topic amongst veterinarians. I would like to bring your attention to page 176 in the following article on Veterinary Medical Care Guidelines for Spay-Neuter Programs, published in the Journal of the American Veterinary Medical Association, that endorses pediatric spay/neuter: http://avmajournals.avma.org/doi/pdf/10.2460/javma.249.2.165 . That article cites five organizations that have position statements endorsing pediatric spay/neuter: the American Veterinary Medical Association, the Canadian Veterinary Medical Association, the American Animal Hospital Association, the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, and the American Association of Feline Practitioners. As with every veterinary clinic we strive to do what is best for every pet and household and to practice the highest standard of surgical medicine. We are always happy to address individual needs and concerns with owners before scheduling surgery.
