Soup for the Soul raises $15K

Board member William Cleek said the mission was thankful to the many Yamhill County restaurants and bakeries agreeing to supply bread and soup for the event, held at McMinnville Covenant Church. Leftover soup was donated to local churches to use on the cold winter nights when they open their doors to help the homeless through the C-WISH inclement weather shelter program.

The Humlie Family provided live entertainment, and Cleek said it was a big hit. After the program, homemade cookies were served with coffee.

Cleek said mission leaders were humbled by the generous giving. They plan to make Soup for the Soul an annual affair, he said.

“We want to thank our suppliers and supportive guests for the encouragement and financial support,” he said, noting, “100 percent of each dollar will be invested in helping homeless people in Yamhill County recover and become contributing members of our community.”
