Sheridan house fire displaces six occupants
SHERIDAN — Three adults and three children escaped their burning Sheridan home at 300 S.E. Jefferson Street Thursday afternoon.
Sheridan Fire District spokesperson Wesley Rolfson did not identify the occupants who were residing in the single-story house.
An adult male was treated at the scene for minor burns. He did not require hospitalization.
The first firefighting crew arrived about 4:30 p.m. to find the home fully involved. Firefighters made a rapid attack and knocked the fire down. Efforts were made to save as many personal belongings as possible.
The cause of the fire is undetermined and the damage to the structure and contents is estimated at more than $100,000, Rolfson said.
Six pieces of equipment and 20 firefighters from Sheridan and the West Valley Fire District (Willamina) responded. The Amity Fire District covered Sheridan's main station.
The American Red Cross is assisting the residents with clothing, food, comfort kits and disaster health/mental health information.
