School budget adopted in Willamina
WILLAMINA — The Willamina School Board adopted a budget for fiscal year 2013-14 of $10.7 million at last Tuesday's regular meeting. The cost to property owners will run about $5 per $1,000 of assessed valuation.
In other business, the board:
n Established the Willamina Options Alternative School, to be headed by Kathy Thomas. Superintendent Gus Forster said it will offer students online and classroom coursework.
High school-middle school Principal Tim France said about a dozen students have expressed interest. Enrollment will probably be capped at 20, he said.
n Canceled its July meeting. The board will next meet at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 13, in the school library, for an organizational and goal-setting session.
