School boards to meet
SHERIDAN — The Sheridan School Board has finished interviewing six superintendent candidates. The interviews took place Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.
The interviews were held in executive session. The district did not release the names of the candidates.
Following Thursday’s interviews, facilitated by the Oregon School Boards Association, the board planned to narrow the field to two or three finalists. It plans to invite them for a community meet-and-greet Wednesday or Thursday, time and place to be determined.
Five of the candidates are from Oregon and the sixth is from Washington, according to Business Manager DeAnn O’Neil. She said there were 15 applicants for the job originally.
A.J. Grauer is retiring as superintendent at the end of the school year. The new superintendent will begin work July 1.
Dayton school board to meet
DAYTON — School board members will discuss open enrollment, the school calendar and the district’s relationship to the Willamette Education Service District when they meet Tuesday, Feb. 12.
The board will convene in work session at 6 p.m. and regular session at 7 in the district board room, 780 Ferry St. An executive session will follow to evaluate Superintendent Janelle Beers, whose contract is up for renewal.

Amity sets budget calendar
AMITY — The Amity City Council approved its 2013-14 budget calendar during its regular meeting Wednesday night.
The first session is tentatively scheduled for Wednesday, May 8, with City Administrator Larry Layton serving as budget officer.
There are five vacancies on the budget committee that need filling. Applications are now being accepted.

Y-C to hear from Betty Lou’s
YAMHILL — The Yamhill-Carlton School Board will listen to a presentation from a representative of Betty Lou’s, a McMinnville-based manufacturer of healthy snacks, when it meets at 7 p.m. Monday at the district office. A work session will precede the business session at 6:45.
Superintendent Charan Cline said the district is already purchasing some products from the company and would like to expand its offerings. He said the objective is two-fold — to provide nutritious choices and to support the local economy.

Yamhill Council to meet Tuesday
YAMHILL — City councilors will meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 12, to discuss the coming year’s budget and payroll costs in Yamhill. The public meeting will be held in council chambers, adjacent to city hall.
This is a departure from the council’s regular meeting date. It usually meets on Wednesdays.
Also on the agenda are permit fees for park use and a request from YCRC for $4,500 funding. The council will hear reports on finances, police services and public works as well.

Mac school board to meet
The McMinnville School Board plans to discuss policies and finances when it meets at 7:30 p.m. Monday, Feb. 11, at the district office, 1500 N.E. Baker St.
The agenda also includes a proclamation of Classified Employee Week, discussion of out-of-state travel requests and reports about the school calendar and district facilities.

Perrydale auction seeks donors
PERRYDALE — The school parents’ club is collecting donations for its seventh-annual dinner and auction, slated for May 18 at the Polk County Fair and Events Center in Rickreall.
The event raises funds for K-12 programs, such as field trips, career exploration and school improvements. Tickets will be availabelt for $20 each in March.

Budget calendar up in Willamina
WILLAMINA — The Willamina School Board plans to adopt a 2013-14 budget calendar when it meets at 7 p.m. Tuesday in the school library.
It is also planning to deliver its annual evaluation of Superintendent Gus Forster. A copy will be available for public inspection at the district office, now located at the Oaken Hills complex, beginning Wednesday.
