Rodeo promises Western fun

The action got underway at 10 a.m. Monday with a breakfast, followed by a trail ride around the northern Willamette Valley.

As part of the USSTC Professional Bull Riding Challenger Tour, 35 of the world's top bull riders will compete in the extreme sport at 7:30 tonight. The riders will earn prize money in addition to points toward the world championship title.

Additional shows are slated for 7:30 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday, along with a July 4 matinée set for 1:30 p.m.

Along with traditional events — bareback riding, barrel racing, steer wrestling and calf roping — the rodeo will feature a carnival, an art show and a wild cow milking competition. And fireworks will follow each evening rodeo performance.

July 4 is stacked with special events, including a 10 a.m. parade and a 11 a.m. barbecue cook-off.

Ticket prices vary from $16 to $22 depending on the day and type of seating. Bench, open-air bleacher and covered grandstand seats are available.
