A McMinnville teen hid in a closet at home while three suspects burglarized the Northeast Hembree Street residence last Thursday night, Feb. 28, police reported.
Capt. Matt Scales of the McMinnville police said a search of the area for the trio, described as Latino male teenagers, was unsuccessful. He gave this account:
Dennis Ng, 19, was home alone. He heard a knock on a door and a window and did not answer either time. When he determined the suspects had gained entry to the house, he decided to hide in a bedroom closet.
"He heard them going through the house and rummaging around," Scales said. "One of the suspects even opened that closet door, but for whatever reason did not see him (Ng). He said the suspect was wearing latex gloves."
A group of individuals, described by Scales as family members and friends of Ng, then arrived at the home in a vehicle. About that time, the three suspects were seen fleeing from the home on foot. The only thing they stole were computer speakers, and those were discarded and located nearby.
It's believed the suspects broke a window to gain entry to the home.
