It never occurred to me that a resolution to the debate over government-led prayer would be as simple as described by Commissioner Springer: All those of us (who are in opposition) must do is “come down and check it out,” and we will be humbled by how completely wrong we were. Hallelujah!
We’re all familiar with the cliché Reagan described as the nine most terrifying words in the English language: “I’m from the Government and I’m here to help you.” Springer goes one better: “I’m from the Government, and I’m here to pray with you.”
