Police seeking injured suspect who fled after Amity incident
Jul 30, 2014
AMITY — McMinnville and Amity police and the Yamhill County Sheriff's Office are seeking a suspect who was likely injured in an incident in Amity this afternoon.
The suspect is described as a Hispanic male in his 20s. He is slender, about 5-foot-5-inches tall, and clean shaven with a dragon tatoo on his left forearm.
Police said witnesses said he tried to grab a member of an Amity family and a struggle ensued. The suspect ran off after being injured.
He got into a vehicle that drove away northbound on Highway 99W. The vehicle is described as a 1990s red or maroon SUV, similar to a Chevy Blazer.
A male driver and a white female passenger also were in the vehicle, police said.
According to McMinnville police, the McMinnville and Amity departments have been working on the case for the past week. The Amity family had reported receiving multiple threats and assaults.
Police said the threats targeted a specific family and are not considered a general danger to the community.
About 1 o'clock today, a third party told an officer that another incident had occured. Amity, McMinnville and YCSO officers responded along with representatives of the Oregon State Police, Yamhill County District Attorney's Office and Crime Victims Assistance Office.
They closed Highway 99W in downtown Amity for about three hours during the investigation. The highway reopened to normal traffic just before 5:30 p.m.
Anyone with information about the incident or the suspect's whereabouts should call Det. Hugo Cerda, at 503-435-5616, or Amity Chief Dan Brown, at 503-835-8606.
