Pedestrian struck by vehicle on Highway 18

GRAND RONDE — An adult male was struck by a vehicle about 5 a.m. Friday about four miles west of Grand Ronde on Highway 18 in Polk County.
The unidentified victim was transported by West Valley Fire District ambulance to Salem Hospital with what the Oregon State Police described as critical injuries.
OSP gave this account:
The victim was a passenger in a vehicle driven by an unidentified female. She stopped the vehicle on the highway shoulder. He exited the vehicle and was struck. No other information was released, including names of the involved individuals.
The Polk County District Attorney's Office is assisting OSP with the investigation that wrapped up at the scene early Friday afternoon.
Oregon State Police (OSP), with the assistance of the Polk County District Attorney's Office, is continuing the investigation into last Friday morning's serious injury pedestrian-involved collision that occurred along Highway 18 about four miles west of Grand Ronde in Polk County. The names of the driver and injured pedestrian are released in this update.
