The 27th annual breakfast is a fundraiser for Lions charities.

The event will run from 7 a.m. to noon. Cost for the meal of ham, eggs, pancakes and beverages is $8 for adults and $4 for children younger than 10.

Viewing cars and planes is free. The Lions are expecting a wide variety of antique and vintage cars, hot rods, motorcycles and unique airplanes. Breakfast goers will vote for the People’s Choice award winner.

Helicopter rides will be available for $20 from Jerry Trimble Helicopters of McMinnville.

The Touchdown Auto Rotation competition, which gets underway at 10 a.m., is sponsored by Trimble. He said he’s expecting participants from several countries, as well as local pilots.

Trimble said the competition will be judged on straight-on autos, with scoring based on distance from a predetermined spot, technique and slide distance. Each pilot can make two full-down auto rotations.

In addition, a handicap system is being implemented this year -- pilots can lose points for receiving assistance from Trimble, who will fly with each competitor who hasn’t supplied his or her own helicopter.

Cost to enter is $75, which includes helicopter rental and a $5 donation to a charity of the pilot’s choice.

The winning pilot will receive a trophy made from an engraved piece of an R-22 rotor blade.
