Old YCAP digs demolished
The county’s $28,000 contract with Haworth Inc. requires completion within 60 days, and the county’s facilities maintenance supervisor, Brian Dunn, said Haworth figures to finish well ahead of that. By Thursday morning, the office portion of the building was down and the crew was moving on to the warehouse portion.
The county will be reimbursed for the demolition out of a $1.6 million ConnectOregon grant from the Oregon Department of Transportation.
The new center, going in just east of the McMinnville Post Office, will replace a makeshift Fifth Street center consisting of little more than a row of shelters erected in front of the county courthouse and jail.
The Yamhill County Transit Area, overseen by the county, plans to develop a 700-square-foot office, a covered seating area, a 400-square-foot public restroom, six bus bays and a bike storage facility on the site.
The county is contributing the site to meet ODOT’s 20 percent match requirement. Target date for completion is Jan. 31.
