This article is so misquoted it's ridiculous. You paint Ricky like he is a gun crazed lunatic and that is so far from the truth. He is a hardworking, loving husband, father, son, etc. I am so disappointed at how you turned his words, misquoted him and literally added words to what he said. "Williams said no one can teach him any lessons on gun safety". That was not said at all. Are you kidding me? He has taken training and believes it is important for others to do as well. We all want safe schools for our children. We want guns to be in the "good guy's" hands that choose to do so. Let's work together on this and quit being so divided. Did you happen to see that some of the marchers on the other side were calling this group murderers and an older lady even flipped off two of the kids? What a disgrace all around. :/

I’m Ricky Williams, you miss quoted me and lied. I don’t appreciate the way you portrayed me by using some things I said leaving out key parts to make me look stupid and unsafe, and other things you quoted me saying were completely fabricated. Your the CNN fake news of Yamhill County!

Ricky, I would expect no less from this poor excuse for a newspaper. I remember the city council open-carry thing, where they basically announced the ordinance on the day of the council meeting. All the news that fits their agenda they print.

Nickolejoy, You sound like Trump - complete with your "Fake News!" cry and bad grammar. You say you were misquoted. OK, let's hear what you were trying to say, in your own words.

Airman

Ricky, I am sorry that this happened to you. You have to be very careful about speaking to the press, specifically to things related to being pro 2nd amendment and, or firearms. Most generally, they will not have your best interests at heart.

Nicole,

What do you expect from this paper? It has a long history of misquotes and twisting people’s words to further their extreme, biased left wing views. They justify it by saying basically, “all the press does it and it’s implied to be paraphrased”, if it’s not stated it’s a direct quote in the article. Paraphrasing is a lazy way to twist the story to fit a biased narrative.

It’s shameful and a major contributing factor why the press is not respected or believed anymore.

What happened to unbiased quality reporting? I sure miss it. Thank God for NPR. Maybe The NewsRegister can learn from professionals.

Don Dix

Wow! The NR has a long history of extreme, left wing bias? One would have to be pretty far right to own that statement!

"God wants us to have guns" BWhahahahahahahahahahah

REB

"Who wants a gun like that?"

I do, I want what the professionals use for protection.
Self defense is not a game of rules where one side is handicapped---it ain't golf.

tagup

Protection from what?

Seems like for home protection a handgun would be better suited for a confined area..or maybe a shotgun....

If your talking black helicopters and SWAT crashing through your door, you won't win no matter what weapon you have....

Sometimes we just don't know how extreme our own beliefs have become until we hear someone repeat our own words back to us.

God wants me to have three million dollars so I can perform good works throughout the land which He hath giveth me.
On a more serious note, these massacres share some common elements: the perpetrator. A male loner (except in the case of Columbine, which could be classified as folie a deux, or shared psychosis) with a history of violent temper outbursts, hatred of authority, spending a great deal of time alone (in the basement--think Adam Lanza) for drawing/plotting purposes, secretive, paranoid, narcissistic. The kid in Parkland had already raised enough red flags, resulting in notification to the FBI--which never responded; so much for the ironic "send us your tips" empty promises to the public. Finally, here is a subjective addition: many of these boys looked crazy in their earlier pictures.
