Mac gets some positive fiscal news
The council is scheduled to start with a bit of welcome news. Its latest three-year fiscal forecast says the city financial fortunes have improved, thanks to some strict attention to cost-cutting in recent years.
Meanwhile, the PETCO Foundation is scheduled to present a check at the meeting for $18,000. The money is earmarked for installation of security lighting at the city dog park.
Obtaining more money – in the form of revenue from a lodging tax – also is on the agenda. Having reached consensus on a number of issues, the council is scheduled to review a draft ordinance Tuesday.
The council is slated to meet in informal dinner session at 6 p.m. and formal business session at 7 p.m. in the McMinnville Civic Hall, 200 N.E. Second St. In other business, it plans to:
n Observe a special presentation by Ken Elwer, police chief in Philomath, recognizing the awarding of professional accreditation to the McMinnville Police Department.
n Vote on a resolution transferring future development of the city’s fiber optics network to McMinnville Water & Light.
n Award a contract for janitorial services to low bidder ABM Janitorial for $128,460.
n Review a request from the McMinnville Downtown Association for renewal of the downtown Economic Improvement District.
n Hear a presentation on parks maintenance.
