Log truck rolls west of Sheridan

The driver was identified as Ray Mott, 56, of 110 N.E. Kingwood St., McMinnville. He was driving a 2000 Kenworth tractor-trailer rig for Siletz Trucking.

Troopers from the Oregon State Police said the trailer’s right-side wheels slipped off the pavement.

When Mott tried to slip them back onto the roadway, he lost control, they said. The rig traveled across the westbound lanes and rolled onto its side, spilling its load.

In addition to OSP, the Yamhill County Sheriff’s Office, Sheridan Fire District and Oregon Department of Transportation responded. Senior Trooper Bridget Taylor, who patrols out of OS’s McMinnville office, is leading the crash investigaton.

The highway was closed in both directions for awhile while the scene was cleared. Mott escaped injury.
