Local singers part of barbershop contest
The contest will be open to the public Friday and Saturday, March 22 and 23, at Forest Grove High School, 1401 Nichols Lane.

The local men are part of the Tualatones quartet, one of dozens of a-capella groups competing for a chance to be among the eight making the finals.
Wright, 69, has sung in several groups with his two sons. He’s new to barbershop, however.
He joined the Tualatin Valley Harmony Masters Chorus last year. He later became lead-line singer for the Tualatones.
Muralt, 70, sings bass with the group. Other members are David Osborn of Cedar Mill, tenor; and Bill Vaughan of Hillsboro, baritone.
The annual All Northwest Barbershop Ballad Contest is a popular tradition in Forest Grove. This year’s edition will feature special guest Katie Harmon, a classically trained vocalist from Gresham who won the 2002 Miss America pageant.
