Given Josephine County has a payroll of almost $32,000,000 w/ 63 public works + 15 bldg operations employees, maybe the sheriff should be asking why money is being cut from safety. It seems whenever money is being cut, someone always screams that safety is at risk, instead of cutting the obvious fat - commissioners who make $75,144 a year + benefits, for instance. Seems like extortion to me - which is a crime.

The promise of less law enforcement may encourage/entice some small-time gardeners to take a run at growing their cash crops old school plantation style.

I'd suggest Sheriff Gilbertson contact Sheriff Allman down in Mendocino county for some pointers on how to keep his deputies on the payroll without soaking property owners dry.

Let us continue to pay ridiculous wages to politicians, continue to gouge education and corrections, and then complain when our streets are over run with violence, drugs and stupidity.

ASSISTANT ATTORNEY GENERALS POSITION IS OPEN PAYING $10,500+ PER MONTH. EXCESSIVE?

It never should have reached this point. Grant County Sheriff Gilbertson has done and excellent job "unraveling" State vs. Federal rights.

Correction to my last post. Sheriff Gilbertson is the Josephine County Sheriff.
