Friday night's KGW Spotlight Game -- Forest Grove at McMinnville in Wortman Stadium -- featured an on-field fireworks display.

Vikings quarterback Taylor Jensen threw for 416 yards and four touchdowns, and running back Gio Tayetto rushed for 136 yards and two touchdowns on 15 carries as Forest Grove defeated Mac, 43-34.

"I thought we were balanced," Vikings coach Dwight Jensen said. "The run game was working. The pass game was working. And I think our line did a great job."

Grizzlies quarterback Gage Gubrud completed 14 of 22 passes for 177 yards and three touchdowns. Cameron Fox scored three times for McMinnville (3-1 overall, 1-1 Pacific Conference), including a 51-yard touchdown run on Mac's first play from scrimmage.

However, the Grizzlies' offense went three-and-out four times in 10 possessions (including a goal-line stand) and also missed a 31-yard field goal in the third quarter. Forest Grove (3-1, 1-1 Pacific Conference) turned a 17-14 halftime lead into a 36-28 advantage after halftime; none of their three touchdown drives lasted more than two minutes.

"They just executed really well," McMinnville coach Robin Hill said. "The quarterback is really accurate and the receivers ran really sharp routes. We had trouble getting under them.

And we had trouble getting pressure on the quarterback. That's kind of a bad combination."
