Horse struck and killed
Capt. Tim Svenson of the Yamhill County Sheriff’s Office gave this account:
Frank James Wall, 53, of 1155 N.E. Norton Lane, McMinnville, was northbound on Highway 99W in a 1988 Chevrolet S-10 when he encountered four or five horses in a ditch on the east side of the road.
The horses jumped onto the highway as he was driving by. He struck at least one of them, killing it, any may have struck another.
The horses were traced to Debbie Barber, 57, of 4400 S.E. Cherry Road, McMinnville. She said five of them were running loose at the time, due to fencing issues.
Barber was cited into McMinnville Municipal Court on one count of allowing livestock to run at large.
She is scheduled to appear Friday, Feb. 22.
