Grand Ronde shooting suspect captured
Dennis James Knight, 33, was trying to purchase a vehicle from a private party on 39th Avenue. During the transaction, Knight became agitated, causing the seller to call 911 for his own safety.
When deputies arrived, they recognized Knight and took him into custody without incident. He was booked into the Marion County Jail on one count each of first-degree assault, first-degree kidnapping and first-degree robbery, all Class A felonies carrying lengthy prison terms under Measure 11.
On Monday, Jan. 28, the 50-year-old victim, Christopher Riesch, was confronted and ultimately shot by two men who tried to rob him at a home in the 4000 block of Jade Street NE. He survived.
Witnesses said the men sped off in a small red pickup with a black canopy. Police are still seeking the second suspect.
Knight has a court appearance scheduled for 8:30 a.m. Wednesday, April 3.
