Dec 12, 2013
McMinnville, Sheridan and other areas of the central Willamette Valley are now being warned by the National Weather Service to expect a period of freezing rain this afternoon. Although temperatures are predicted to reach 36 today, as of 1:30, they remain below freezing.
A special weather statement posted at 12:51 p.m. today notes that "ice accumulations will be limited to less than one tenth of an inch ... but even light ice accumulations can make roads extremely hazardous in a matter of minutes. Expect freezing rain to turn to rain later this afternoon."
