Four honored by Walnut City Kiwanis

The club, which meets every Friday morning, raises scholarship money through a berry sale, garage sale, pancake breakfast and other community fundraisers. Its annual berry sale is currently underway.

Bernhisel, daughter of Steve and Donna Bernhisel, plans to study nursing at Brigham Young University. She participated in Key Club, Doernbecher Club, National Honor Society, International Club, Concert Choir, cross country and tennis, and volunteered her time with Doernbecher, the Yamhill Community Action Partnership and the MHS Teen Mentoring Program.

Foutch, son of Allan and Carol Foutch, plans to study communications at the University of Nebraska. An honor student, he was involved in Doernbecher Club and the school swim team, and volunteered with Habitat for Humanity, Juliette’s House, Kids on the Block and the YCAP Food Bank.

Roth, daughter of Jacob and Tanya Roth, plans to study education at Chemeketa Community College. She was active in the drama club, volunteered at Gallery Theater, interned for local elementary schools and taught Sunday school.

Scanlon, son of Jacob and Lisa Scanlon, plans to study applied physics at Linfield College. He participated in track, football, Young Life and the Engineering and Aerospace Science Academy. He volunteered at the Evergreen Aviation & Space Museum Science Camp and Athletic Club events, helped in the office at Patton Middle School and served as a youth football coach.
