Former Evergreen pilots seek arbitration

The Air Line Pilots Association International, which represents former pilots of Evergreen International Airlines, has filed a motion in the company's bankruptcy case. The motion seeks to compel arbitration for grievances over the dismissal of some of them.

Filed July 30, the motion states that “in the months preceding Evergreen's Chapter 7 filing, the company fired five pilots without good cause and for alleged misconduct entirely unrelated to their ability to competently and safety operate the company's aircraft.”

Further, it argues, the discharges “not only put the pilots out of a job, but by tainting their employment records, severely hampered their ability to find work elsewhere in the industry.”
