Filing sparse in Sheridan

Aug 25, 2014

News-Register Staff

SHERIDAN — Harry Cooley, who was promoted from council president to mayor when Val Adamson resigned earlier this year, is seeking a full four-year term in the post in Sheridan's Nov. 4 general election.

He had drawn no opposition as of Friday, but filing doesn't close until this afternoon.

Cooley retired last year after 21 years at the Federal Correctional Institution in Sheridan, where he served as an electronics technician. He and his wife, Elaine, own Hill Security Products, which manufactures key clips.

Three council seats are also up for grabs, all carrying four-year terms. They are currently held by Chris Ehry, Rene Quinones and Michael Ellis, the latter appointed to replace Cooley.

Ellis and Quinones have filed for re-election. Ehry had not as of Friday.

The top three vote-getters, including any candidate surfacing on a write-in basis, will be seated.
