Farm labor company sues Evergreen

Acctcorp International of Salem, a collection company, filed two lawsuits July 15 on behalf of Lumbreras Labor Services of Independence. They seek payment for farm labor performed on behalf of agricultural arms of Evergreen, plus collection costs and legal fees in amounts to be determined.

One seeks $45,100 from Evergreen Aviation founder Del Smith, doing business as Greenpatch, for labor performed in April. The other is suing for a like sum from Evergreen Agricultural Enterprises, a wholly owned Evergreen subsidiary, for farm labor performed in March and April.

In an unrelated development, Colt International filed a statement on July 19, notifying the court of a $600,000 judgment rendered against Evergreen International Airlines in May.

The airline is a wholly owned subsidiary engaged in the air freight business. The judgment, which creates a lien against company property, was rendered in May in superior court in Texas.
