Driver cited in three-way crash

Sgt. Tim Symons of the McMinnville police gave this account:

James Oliver Lane, 50, of 8151 S.W. River Bend Road, McMinnville, was southbound on Ford in a 1995 Honda Accord when he blew a stop sign.

He crashed into a 2006 Chrysler Town & Country minivan driven by Caroline L. Skuzeski, 54, of 780 E. Second St., Yamhill, who was approaching on First. The impact drove the minivan into a 1996 Honda Civic, stopped northbound on Ford, with Amanda Christine Leipfert, 26, of 967 S.E. Ford St., at the wheel.

A passenger in Lane’s vehicle, Illa Mae Stigall, 55, of the River Bend Road address, was transported by McMinnville Fire Department ambulance to the Willamette Valley Medical Center.

Liepfert and a passenger in her Civic, Jessica Ann Leipfert, 24, of the Ford Street address, were taken by ambulance to Providence Newberg Medical Center.

Lane and Skuzeski escaped injury, as did two other passengers in Leipfert’s vehicle. All occupants of vehicles involved in the crash were wearing seat belts.

Police cited Lane for careless driving and failing to obey a traffic control device.

Traffic was routed around the crash scene for about an hour.

It turns out that one of those whose "suffered minor injuries" really suffered "life threating injuries" which she passed away from - Illa is now an Angel with God.
