Dayton mayor resigns after seven years
DAYTON — Jolie White has resigned from the mayorship in Dayton, which she had held since February 2007, to pursue other interests.
White served on the city council for two years before being named mayor when James Ring resigned. She was elected in 2010 to a four-year term, which would have expired in December.
White submitted her resignation at Monday night’s regular business meeting. Council president Beth Wytoski will serve as interim mayor, pending the council’s decision about appointing someone to fill out the remainder of the term.
The council is scheduled to meet in a special session set for 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 21, in the Dayton City Hall Annex. For more information, call 503-864-2221
