Daughter accused of theft from mom

Sgt. Tim Symons of the McMinnville police identified the suspect as Melody Kathleen Norwood, 33, of 454 N.W. Fifth St. She was charged with one count each of first-degree criminal mistreatment and first-degree theft, both Class C felonies.

Norwood was initially booked into the Yamhill County Jail on $15,000 bail, but later released pending disposition of her case. McMinnville attorney Mark Lawrence was appointed to handle her defense.

Norwood’s mother lives in a senior living facility in McMinnville, Symons said. He said the facility and Northwest Senior & Disability Services assisted police with its investigation.

Symons said Norwood is accused of appropriating $5,300 worth of deposits between last December and May, when police were notified.
