Crash injures two pedestrians
Two pedestrians were injured as the result of a two-vehicle crash Monday night at the intersection of Northwest Adams and Second streets in McMinnville. Numerous citations were issued.
Sgt. Tim Symons of the McMinnville police gave this account:
At about 9 p.m., Morgan Jeffrey Bryant, 18, of Salem, was driving a 1995 Jeep Cherokee eastbound on Second. After stopping momentarily for a red light, he proceeded through the intersection and collided with a Ford pickup that was southbound on Adams and driven by Nicholas Robert Keim, 23, of 1176 S.W. Westvale St., McMinnville.
Following the collision, the vehicles careened into two pedestrians who were standing on the southeast corner of the intersection waiting for the light to change. They were identified as Emily Aysia Sanchez, 18, of 655 N.E. Burnett Road, No. 28, McMinnville, and Kurgan B. Larsen, 18, of 204 S.E. Elmwood Ave., No. 39, McMinnville.
They were transported by McMinnville Fire Department ambulance to the Willamette Valley Medical Center for treatment of injuries. Neither Bryant nor Keim were injured.
Bryant was cited for fail to obey a traffic control device, possession of less than one ounce of marijuana and reckless driving.
Two passengers in his vehicle were also cited. Shawn A. Rennels, 18, of Keizer, for possession of more than one ounce of marijuana, and Dominic Savage, 17, of Salem, for possession of less than one ounce. Neither of them were injured.
