Contracts due a look in Lafayette
LAFAYETTE — The Lafayette City Council plans to review proposals for a new franchise agreement with local utilities and a new law enforcement contract with the sheriff’s office when its meets at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, May 9, at city hall, 486 Third St.
It also plans to renew discussion on a proposal for developing a community garden. Thanks to numerous donations, said City Administrator Preston Polasek, advocates have managed to lower projected startup costs to $2,000.
The garden would provide 20 plots of varying sizes.
The council is also expected to consider awarding a bid for repair work on Canyon View Street. The project entails installation of a perforated drain system under the roadway to collect excess water.
