Community Connect Event links people with services

People looking for food, housing, employment and other programs can find local resources from 10 a.m. to noon Friday, May 15, at Yamhill County’s seventh-annual Community Connect Event. It will be held at Chemeketa Community College’s Yamhill Valley Campus, at 288 N.E. Norton Lane.

The event connects individuals and families with resources and direct services. All services are at no-cost and are confidential.

The event is open to all residents in Yamhill County. Lunch will be provided.

There are some 40 different service providers signed up to participate in the event. They cover areas such as early learning, food assistance, counseling services, veterans services, housing assistance and job search help.

In addition, free medical and dental screenings will be offered, along with bike repair, basic veterinary services and haircuts.

The Yamhill County Transit Area is offering free countywide bus service to the event. Participants should catch the East-West Express Route No. 2 from the YCTA McMinnville Transit Center, 800 N.E. Second St. in downtown McMinnville.
