City sets open house on urban renewal
An advisory committee has been working with a consultant to create the plan.
The open house is slated to run 4:30 to 7 p.m. at the McMinnville Civic Hall, 200 N.E. Second St. The city is planning to make a formal presentation on the plan at 6.
“The primary purpose for this meeting is really two-fold,” said City Planner Doug Montgomery. One goal is “to provide information about what is urban renewal and how it might work in McMinnville,” he said, and another “to collect comments, thoughts and concerns from those who attend, and, as appropriate, weave those into the plan for how this should be put together.”
The plan will be the subject of at least two formal public hearings before it is finalized, he said. In the meantime, he said, the city will need to consult with affected taxing districts and possibly hold a second open house.
Eventually, the plan will go before the city planning commission. After holding a public hearing, it will forward the plan to the city council for final consideration.
On Tuesday, project information displays will be set up in the lobby. Members of the city staff and consultant team will be present to answer questions.
Participants will have a chance to offer comments both orally and in writing. Forms will be provided to facilitate the latter.
