Citizenship classes planned for Mac
To qualify for naturalization, candidates who are married to a U.S. citizen must establish at least three years of residency, coupled with at least 20 months of physical presence during the past five years. For candidates not married to a U.S. citizen, the requirements are five years of residency and 30 months of physical presence.
In either case, they must be at least 18 years of age. They must demonstrate speaking, reading and writing ability in English, a command of civics and history basics, good moral character and a willingness to swear allegiance to the United States. And they have to show they haven’t been out of the country for more than one year at any one period since coming to the U.S.
Pre-registration is required by May 29. There is a $10 textbook feel.
