Changes slated for Route 44
“We’re not reducing service hours,” said Transit Manager Tonya Saunders. “This is not a reduction in service, it’s an adjustment of service to make it more efficient.”
The heavily used route travels up Highway 99W to Tigard. It has been running chronically late due to the Dundee-Newberg bottleneck.
After months of analysis, Saunders said the stops were altered to give drivers more time to make them.
She said the county had to eliminate one run in each direction to make the new schedule work, and chose the southbound run setting out from Newberg at 5:45 a.m. and northbound run leaving the Yamhill County Courthouse at 9:35 a.m. In addition, the district will continue to provide service on the route until 9 p.m., instead of quitting at 7:30, she said.
