Car crashes into McMinnville home
A McMinnville woman who allegedly crashed her car into a house shortly after midnight Saturday faces multiple driving charges.
Police identified her as Shantiel Simone Nicholson, 19, of 804 S.E. Davis St. She was booked into the Yamhill County Jail on two counts of recklessly endangering another person and one count each of driving under the influence of intoxicants and reckless driving. She was cited to appear in McMinnville Municipal Court and released on her own recognizance
Sgt. Tim Symons gave this account:
Officers were dispatched to 1704 N.W. Wallace Road on a report that a car had crashed into the side of a house. They located a Honda Accord and a Volkswagen Passat that were heavily damaged.
Their investigation determined that Nicholson was driving the Volkswagen westbound on Wallace Road. She had a 21-year-old female passenger with her. The vehicle crossed into the eastbound lane, jumped the curb, smashed into a community mailbox on the sidewalk and struck the Wallace Road house, coming to rest in the driveway.
The mailbox, after being hit, flew into the air and landed on the Honda that was parked in the driveway. At the time, that car was occupied by Fred Romero, 41, while Tara Romero, 39, was inside the house next to a window. No one was injured.
