Camelia Festival blooms on Saturday

NEWBERG — Flowers, Asian art, a 5- or 10-kilometer run, food, music and dance will be featured Saturday, April 11, at the seventh-annual Camellia Festival.

The event is named for Newberg’s official city flower. The Oregon Camellia Society will hold its judged bloom show in conjunction with the festival, which runs from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.  in the Chehalem Cultural Center, 415 E. Sheridan St.

Monmouth Taiko, Lee’s Lion and Dragon Dancers, and The Oregon Koto Ensemble will perform. The day also will include martial arts demonstrations, a koi pond and hands-on art activities.

Chehalem Valley Chamber of Commerce, Chehalem Parks and Recreation and area businesses sponsor the annual event. For more information, check the website, newbergcamelliafestival.com.
