Boumann to join Clackamas C.C.
McMinnville center Vince Boumann’s basketball journey continues with a two-year stopover.
Boumann has signed a letter of intent to play for Clackamas Community College, where he said he will receive a full-tuition scholarship. The Cougars are members of the Northwest Athletic Association of Community Colleges (NWAACC) and have won five conference championships, most recently in 2009 and 2010.
“I felt like I would have to go the junior-college route,” Boumann said. “Thinking about JCs, and then after my senior year happened, I talked to a ton of other community colleges that were all in the NWAACC. I went on some visits and felt like I’d be more comfortable there.”
The 6-foot-7 Boumann averaged17.0 points and a team-leading 8.0 rebounds in 25 games for the Grizzlies in 2013-14. McMinnville finished second in the Class 6A Pacific Conference and advanced to the second round of the OSAA Class 6A state playoffs. Boumann has since been playing basketball with the Portland Pandas AAU team.
At Clackamas, Boumann will join a stable program led by head coach Clif Wenger, who has led the Cougars for 15 seasons.
“They’ve got a good winning culture,” Boumann said. “They know what they’re doing. They feel like I can help them a lot.”
