Amity schools offer open enrollment

The deadline to register is April 1. Only a limited number students will be accepted, depending on grade level, as the district tries to keep its class sizes down.

This is the second year Amity has offered open enrollment, which allows students to transfer without first getting approval from their resident district. In 2012-13, 62 students transferred into the district and three transferred out.

Several other area school districts, including McMinnville and Dayton, have decided against open enrollment. They do, however, allow individuals to apply for a transfer, subject to the approval of both districts.

Applicants for open enrollment must complete a Request for Admission of Non-Resident Student. Forms can be picked up at the school district office, 807 N. Trade St., or downloaded from the district website,
