Fatal crash occurs on Highway 18 just east of Spirit Mountain Casino

FORT HILL - One person died in a two-vehicle crash about 6:40 p.m. Saturday on Highway 18 just east of the Spirit Mountain Casino.

The fatality was confirmed via Yamhill Communications Agency radio traffic. One person was transported by ground ambulance to Salem Hospital.

An SUV rear-ended a dump truck.

Multiple law enforcement and rescue personnel responded. An Oregon Lifeguard helicopter was activated but did not respond.

The eastbound lane was closed but the westbound lane remained open while an investigation took place.

The Oregon State Police may release more information later today.
