Y-C School Board to meet Jan. 11

YAMHILL -- The Yamhill-Carlton School Board will meet at 7 p.m. Monday, Jan. 11, to discuss a proposed school repair and remodeling bond.

The public meeting will be held in the district office, 120 N. Larch Place, Yamhill.

Board members plan to put the bond measure on the May ballot. Running about $16.2 million, it will cover sorely needed repairs that will keep the district's buildings usable for another 20 years or more, Superintendent Charan Cline said. The measure also will pay for construction of a new high school gym that can gather as an emergency gathering place for the community.

While projects have been decided upon, the board still has to set the length and other aspects that will effect how much the bond measure will cost property tax payers.

In other business Monday, the board will discuss policies about weapons in schools, the budget calendar personnel and facilities. For more information, call the district office, at 503-852-6980.
