Newberg to host Oktoberfest

The event is sponsored by the Newberg Early Bird Rotary Club and promises two days of music, food, games and, of course, beer.

Festivities get underway at 4 p.m. Friday in the main tent. An opening parade, starting at 5:30, will feature draft horses, marching band Love Bomb GoGo and the Chehalem Valley Dancers.

The fun continues on Saturday with a bike ride at 10 a.m., wiener dog races with registration beginning at noon, and a lederhosen contest at 5 p.m. There will also be beer from local brewers, plenty of German food and oompah bands playing music. Children’s activities are available from noon to 6 p.m.

Entry to the event costs $10 and includes a beverage. Proceeds will help fund Rotary Club projects.
