McMinnville lifts recreational burning restrictions

Red flag warnings and extreme fire conditions have subsided in Yamhill County.

As a result, the McMinnville Fire Department is lifting recreational burning restrictions that were put in place on August 20.

Restrictions on backyard fire pits, patio fire pits, propane campfire pits and charcoal barbecues will be lifted at 8 a.m. Friday.

This only applies to the McMinnville city limits. The Oregon Department of Forestry still bans all open flames within their jurisdiction.

Fuels remain dry, and fire officials remind citizens to use caution when using these devices.

Seasonal burning restrictions on agricultural and backyard burning remain in effect.
