Yamhill County firefighters helping battle Grizzly Bear Complex

Yamhill County firefighters are joining other crews from around the state and region in fighting the Grizzly Bear Complex fire in Northeast Oregon.

The fire jumped the border from Washington state and is blazing near the town of Troy. Residents in nearby rural areas were evacuated overnight.

Yamhill County's team was dispatched to protect structures, county Fire Chief John Stocks said.

Stocks said he dispatched a six-apparatus team at 2 a.m. Friday, Aug. 21. The team includes firefighters, a watertender from Carlton and brush rigs from Amity, McMinnville, Newberg and Yamhill. Damian Schultz from the McMinnille Fire Department is the task force leader.
