Hill resigns as Grizzlies' football coach

McMinnville football coach Robin Hill has tendered his resignation and athletic director Mark Hinthorn has accepted it, the News-Register has learned.

Hill resigns after two seasons atop the Grizzlies' football program, posting a combined record of 7-13. In 2013, his first season, the Grizzlies posted a 6-5 record (3-4 Class 6A Pacific Conference), making the first round of the OSAA Class 6A state playoffs. The 2013 campaign represented McMinnville's first winning season since 2005. As a member of the Class 6A Greater Valley Conference in 2014, the Grizzlies finished 1-8 overall (1-7 GVC).

Hill, 62, was the coach of GVC member Sprague from 1987 to 2011, winning the 2004 Class 4A state championship and making 21 state playoff appearances. He played baseball and football at the University of Puget Sound.

McMinnville will have had five head football coaches in a seven-year span when the new hire leads the Grizzlies this fall.
