Work crew walkaway taken into custody

Austyn Ingram

The inmate was supposed to be walking dogs and cleaning kennels when he was discovered missing in the early afternoon. A dog also was missing.

The missing miniature Doberman Pinscher mix was discovered later in the day, along with the work coat. A search was launched, but it failed to turn up any sign of Ingram.

The theft charges are related to the jail clothing he was wearing when he walked away and the dog he took from the facility.

Ingram was originally convicted of one count of delivery of a controlled substance/heroin, stemming from a September 2013 arrest. One count of possession of a controlled substance/heroin was dismissed under terms of a plea agreement.

He was sentenced in November 2013 to 20 days in jail with credit for time served, plus 24 months of probation and a six-month driver’s license suspension. He was returned to custody Sept. 24 for violating terms of his probation.

Ingram was cleared for outside work assignments on Sept. 27, and had an original scheduled release date of Dec. 21.

I wonder who cleared him for outside work.
