Cut line interrupts phone and Internet

UPDATE 3:20 p.m.: All services are restored and the cut has been repaired.

A severed fiber-optic telephone cable near Dundee interrupted phone and Internet service around 10:20 a.m. Thursday.

The line was cut by a road construction crew. The outage affected Frontier Communications customers in Lafayette, Dayton, Yamhill and northwest McMinnville.

At press time, Frontier was still working to restore service. It was estimating six hours of down time.

According to the Yamhill County Sheriff's Office, cell service is unaffected and 911 calls can still be made through normal land-line phones. Both Oregon Emergency Management and local public safety providers had been notified of the outage, the office said.
