McMinnville Parks and Rec youth basketball
Basketball players in second through fifth grade can register now for the McMinnville Parks and Recreation 2012-13 season. Boys and girls will be set up separately in second/third grade and fourth/fifth grade leagues. Practices will start the week of Nov. 5 with games beginning Nov. 10.
All games and practices will be held in McMinnville at the elementary schools. Register online at activenet20.active.com/mcminnvilleparksandrec/ or at the McMinnville Community Center. For more information, contact the Community Center at 503-434-7310. Registration deadline is Oct. 20.
Grizzlies Soccer Tots program is Saturday
The McMinnville girls soccer team is hosting a two week camp for boys and girls ages three and four.
The final session is Saturday from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. at Baker Field. If it’s raining, the sessions will be moved to the high school white gym.
The cost for the two weekends is $35 and includes a T-shirt. To pre-register, pick up a registration form at a district building and mail with payment or $25 deposit to Adam Howard at 1846 NW 8th St., McMinnville, OR 97128. Please make checks payable to McMinnville Girls Soccer.
Willamina fundraiser set for Friday at WHS
The Willamina Bulldog Roundup and auction is Friday and will be held at Willamina High School.
Doors open at 5 p.m., with a buffet dinner at 6:30 p.m. and the oral auction at 7:30 p.m.
Ticket prices are $25 for individuals and $40 for couples. It is $150 for a table of eight. Tickets are available at the WHS office, high school athletic events or by contacting Jerry Buczynski at 503-876-2789. You can also contact Angela Fasana at 503-560-3737.
Credit cards are accepted at the WHS office and on the night of the event.
Free clinic with local doctor at Willamette Valley Medical Center
Dr. Derek D. Rains, an orthopedic surgeon specializing in sports medicine, is offering a free clinic each Saturday from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. through Nov. 17 at his office in the Willamette Valley Orthopedics and Sports Medicine at the Willamette Valley Medical Center, Suite 303.
The clinic is free for Yamhill Valley athletes of high school age, and is focused on helping athletes. There is no charge for the visit, sports braces or x-rays. Pacific Medical has donated sports braces and Willamette Valley Medical Center will provide staffing and free x-rays.
Dr. Rains is a team physician for Linfield College and McMinnville High school. He specializes in arthroscopic reconstructive surgery of the knee and shoulder.
