Mac High plans Happiest Homecoming on Earth

McMinnville High students will dress as pirates and fairy princesses during a Disney-themed homecoming week slated to run Sunday, Oct. 14, through Sunday, Oct. 21.

The “Happiest Homecoming on Earth” will feature decorated windows, a drive-in movie, a noise parade, a dance and, of course, the homecoming game. The Grizzlies will face Glencoe on Friday, Oct. 19, at Wortman Stadium.

Students will begin the week Sunday by painting windows on the Evans Street side of the school. Clubs and classes will each take a window.

Dress-up days and special activities are scheduled throughout the week.

On Monday, students will dress as pirates or in “under the sea” costumes. A barbecue and carnival will be held from 5 to 8 p.m.

Tuesday is Classic Disney day. The homecoming court will be named. The stadium parking lot will be turned into a drive-in move venue from 8 to 10 p.m.

Wednesday’s focus is on the wilderness, outdoors, safaris and jungles. Thursday’s will be on fairy tales.

On Friday, students will wear the school colors for a homecoming pep assembly and the noise parade.

The parade will leave the high school at 2 p.m. and travel down Evans toward the downtown area. Clubs and classes will ride on floats and carry banners as they march.

The homecoming dance will be held from 8 to 11 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 20, in the McMinnville Community Center. Students will conclude homecoming by cleaning the paint off the school windows on Sunday, Oct. 21.
